We offer a comprehensive legal billing solution which includes preparing Bills of Cost in line with the applicable court tariffs, attending to taxation before the relevant Taxing Master and opposing Bills of Cost in the following courts:

We work nationally and can arrange collection of your files, though a fee applies to all collections outside of Gauteng.

What We Need To Get Started

To draw a Bill of Costs:

  • A detailed instruction letter
  • Your complete file, including all pleadings, correspondence, file notes etc.
  • A court order, settlement agreement, notice of withdrawal, letter or any other document in which costs are tendered
  • All disbursement vouchers (Counsel, Sheriff etc.);
  • Your time billing / general ledger.

To tax a Bill of Costs:

  • A detailed instruction letter;
  • A court order, settlement agreement, notice of withdrawal, letter or any other document in which costs are tendered;
  • Proof of all disbursements included in the bill of cost;
  • Proof of all the consultations and other time based attendances reflected in the bill of cost.

To oppose a bill of costs:

  • A detailed instruction letter
  • The notice of intention to tax or the notice of taxation together with the bill of cost received from the opposition
  • Your complete file, including all pleadings, correspondence, file notes relating to consultations, telephone calls, conferences etc.
  • A court order, settlement agreement, notice of withdrawal, letter or any other document in which costs are tendered
  • Your time billing / general ledger

Our Fees

For drawing a Bill of Costs:

We charge 11% of the bill total for preparing a Bill of Costs as per the relevant High Court & Magistrate’s Court tariff * excluding VAT.

For Attending To Taxation Of The Bill of Costs:

Our fees for attending taxations, in accordance with the High Court & Magistrate’s Court tariff, is as follows:
- 11% of the first R10 000.00
- 6% of the second R10 000.00
- 3% of the balance
*excluding VAT.

For Opposing A Bill of Costs:

We charge a fee of 11% of what was taxed off (or saved) on a bill of costs. *excluding VAT.
